Let's just say I took a break from xanga over the summer... But now the school year has started, and I have more free time than I've ever had in my life, so I might actually be able to keep up with this this year.

It's now Tuesday, I've been here for three days or so, and I already feel like I belong here. It really does't seem like just Friday I was still at home. I really like it here, I know this is the right place for me, and I'm so excited about the Christian community here. There are some Christian girls right on my hall, and Christina and I have met Christians pretty much wherever we've gone. I went to a party at the 316 house on Saturday, I've been to the Corner a million times already, I've bought some of my books, I went to church, I met some British kids and a grad student from Australia... so yeah, it's been good so far. And now it's time for lunch.

Tomorrow is my AP calculus exam. Know what that means? After tomorrow, I might never have to do math again for the rest of my life.

Into the Woods (1987 Original Broadway Cast)

I'm going to UVA! I just sent the deposit in today, so it's official.

And speaking of official, the fall musical is officially Into the Woods, which makes me happy. Not that I'm going to be here or anything, but I like the show, so it'll be fun to come back and see it. The only catch is that the cast is only 20 people, so there are going to be a ton of people who get cut. Mr. Shaffner was pretty tricky today too when he announced what the play was going to be. Wait, backing up first; last week he gave us a riddle, and Zac and I sorted it all out and decided that it was Into the Woods. But then I talked to Kenji and he convinced me that we would never do Into the Woods because the cast was too small and there isn't really any dancing in it. So then I had no idea what it would be, but it turns out that Kenji lied to us. Today in assembly Mr. Shaffner got up there to make his announcement, and he started out quoting My Fair Lady and explaining the plot, but then he said "However, the fall musical is not going to be My Fair Lady." He went on to do the same thing with Seussical the Meusical and Cats. And then he finally said it was Into the Woods. And I'm excited because I get to sit in on the auditions to help call names and read parts. I think it'll be really helpful for me to see auditions from the other side of the table; hopefully I'll learn a thing or two that'll help me next fall.

So, senioritis is setting in hard. I can't do work anymore, which wouldn't be a problem if I didn't have 2 AP exams coming up. I think I'll do okay on Bio, but I'm starting to get worried about my Calc exam. I have to get a 4 or a 5, so I'll never have to take math again for the rest of my life! That would be the most amazing feeling in the world. Honestly, sometimes I think the sole function of my math class is to make me feel like a moron.

I'm really proud of the guys at school, they've already started asking people to prom. Usually they wait until like 2 weeks before the dance, but this time they're 2 weeks ahead of themselves. And today I heard the cutest thing I've ever heard in my life; one of my friends asked this girl to prom via parking ticket. Somehow he got ahold of a parking ticket and filled out some various charges having to do with parking, except the last charge was "stealing my heart." And then for the fine he wrote "going with me to prom." That just makes me happy - he gets an A+ for the day.

Okay I think I'm going to sleep...

I wish UVA had a good harp teacher. If it wasn't for that, I would have already sent my money in. But if I ever want to make it into a music conservatory for grad school (if I realize that that's what I want to do with my life, which it might not be), then I probably shouldn't take lessons with the woman at UVA. I mean, I could always commute to Fredricksburg to take lessons with Jeanne Chalifoux, probably the best harp teacher in the nation, or even drive home every other week for a lesson with my current teacher... but that would be such a pain! We're going to have to talk it over with my teacher and see what she thinks...

I'm pretty sad the play is over. It's just weird to think that I won't be doing another play at Collegiate. Theater here has come to be such a huge part of my life. For the past two years, there hasn't been a time where I wasn't either in the middle of rehearsals, getting ready for auditions or learning my lines over the summer. I'm so afraid that I won't make the plays next year, because I'm obviously not the best actor in the world. I'm not terrible, but I'm not that great either. I can sing okay, I can dance okay, but not nearly well enough to beat out the competition I'm going to be up against next year. Maybe I should look into stage managing?

Today has been the best day I've had in a long time. Actually, the past 3 days have been awesome. But especially today. In dance class we went outside for 20 minutes to write haikus , then during clubs and committees all the underclassmen had to go to the course registration assembly, but the seniors had an ice cream social, which was incredible because there was a bubble machine and I took a nap in the grass. Then for all of F period I sat out on the hill outside the library and played cards. And block bio wasn't bad either. We did a lab with rolly-pollies... or at least we were supposed to. I put my rolly-pollies in the dish and watched them, but was too lazy to record any data. So basically I just didn't do the lab. I told Mrs. Griffin, and she said it's okay as long as I copied down the class data. Awesome.

My recital was on Tuesday. It went really really well, except for one song that I got lost halfway through and had to start over. Oops. But I felt very good about all the other pieces. And now it's over!!! I feel like such a weight has been taken off of me. Playing a recital all by yourself gets really stressful, so I'm glad it's over and done with.

I've heard from everywhere EXCEPT Uva. Why does that happen? The two places you want to go least try to give you money, and the one place you know you want to go is the last one to tell you whether you got in. But I ought to know by Saturday.

And lastly, my target for senior assassins is going down tonight. I went to kill her this morning, but she had already left for school. But I don't mind, because now her brother has agreed to help me. So I hope she's enjoying her last day of being alive... This game is the best.
